Project 2: IDJ 2 + IDJ 3

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the second project that my coursemates and I were assigned to do. It's a compilation of a second idea journal(IDJ2) and third idea journal(IDJ3). For the IDJ 2, I am supposed to create future products out of the object I used to create my DIY instrument that I did for my project 1. The object that I used to  make my DIY instrument was a paper cup. Therefore, my lecturer Miss Sufina asked us to brainstorm and think of the future products using the 'scamper' technique to generate ideas. Each letter from the word 'scamper' has its own individual word as well as meaning.

 

• S - Substitute

• C - Combine

• A - Adapt

• M -Modify

• P - Put to another use

• E - Eliminate

• R - Reverse

For my IDJ 2, it took me awhile to think of the things that I can make out of paper cups by using the scamper technique. I manage to think about a pencil cup holder, lantern lamp, christmas lights (cup edition), shot cup, a cup that act as a medium to wash paint brushes, flower paper pot,  and a christmas bell. As for IDJ 3, I made a simple invitation card and also included the details on how would I launch my product through mind mapping.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overall, I have gained a bunch of knowledge from finishing up this assignment. Who would ever know scampering is a shortcut to be slightly more creative? Thanks to my lecturer who introduced this method to my whole class. It's very beneficial in terms of finding new ideas of an object. Not just that, this project also helped in getting my brain to work again. Our task according to the project brief I attached looks really easy but it really is not. A lot of thinking is required for this assignment as well as managing time which I am clearly not good at. I came to realize that I have yet to master good time management. That way, my work could turn out amazing with lots of 'wow' factors.
