For my first project, I had to write an essay that has to be 600 to 800 words long. My lecturer, Miss Thivilojana gave my class a few topics to choose from to write about. In the end, I went with the topic entitled "The effects of allowing children over 15 to make their own decisions". English has always been my favorite subject since primary school, and obviously I was excited for my first english assignment. To some people English is an easy subject, but I don't think so. Every subject has their own difficulties and what I find difficult when writing an essay is using good vocabularies correctly. In time, I know with a lot of practice I can make English my forté. So far after completing this assignment, I have finally figured out my additional strengths and weaknesses. From the start, I know my weakness is inserting vocabularies that have "wow" factors correctly. But after this assignment, I discovered another weakness, which is my citations. In primary school, there was no such thing as citations. When I moved on to secondary school, we didn't use anything regarding citations. Now that I'm in university, the word 'citation' is new to me and I only had minimal understanding about what citations are all about and how exactly is the format. Thanks to my lecturer Miss Thivilojana for sharing her knowledge about citations. I now know that citations are needed when you refer to other sources that are not yours.
