The final assignment for introduction to business was the highlight of this subject throughout the whole semester. It was definitely memorable as it involved a lot of fun and laughters. The moment Mr. Joe mentioned that our final project has something to do with raising money for charity, I was all ears and so hyped up. I've always wanted to do something good for the unfortunate to brighten up their days, but I never had the chance to do so because I just simply have no time. But since this has something to do with our project and grades, I was happy that it was something that I know I won't complain about.

Group effort is involved for this final assignment. My class were asked to run a mock business in their own specific groups and earn money by applying the business skills we learned in class. All the profit that we earned from whatever business we were doing, will be completely donated to a charity organization of our choice. I teamed up with my good mates Hiren, Bryan and Choo. Together, we came up with an onigiri business since there wasn't any onigiri business opened in campus. Thus, people will most likely find our product rather rare and unique, henceforth they might even give in into buying our product due to curiousity and the urge to try something new, other than the usual campus food.

The group name that we came up with was The Only Onigiri due to the fact that we thought it was cool, and sounded a little bit punny. Although calling ourselves The OnlyGiri would be much more punnier, but we went with The Only Onigiri anyways. We decided to order the onigiris from a supplier instead of making them ourselves as it will lessen our burden. In the end, we managed to find an onigiri supplier called NikoNiko, located at SS15. The cost price of one onigiri is RM2.50, which was why we went with selling our onigiris in campus for RM5.

During the charity drive week, we were all pretty much excited about it because we were intrigued to find out if our business will turn out good or not. Suprisingly, we sold out 150 onigiris on the first day in less than 2 hours. We were on a roll! So for the following 4 days, we sold 150, 220, 220, and 170 onigiris respectively. Below are a few photos of how our booth looked like that was situated in front of Student Life Centre, as well as how our faces were throughout the whole week.

After the charity drive event was done, we had to complete a few more tasks. One of it was a report about our business, and the other one was a reflective video of each group member, talking about what was learned from the charity drive event.

Below is my group's reflective video.

All in all, I felt a sense of relief that this project is finally over. I am only relieved because it sure is tiring selling products for a week. It definitely was fun, but I would be lying if I said it was not tiring. But of course, I learned a lot of things from this charity drive event such as the strategies to pull people in to buy your products, how to give a good first impression, as well as how to not care what other people think about you whilst selling the product. I may have been annoying to strangers just so I could get customers to buy our product, but that is part of what we need to go through in life if we were to start a business. Honestly, this is a perfect assignment to end Introduction to Business with. It is definitely something that I will remember in my foundation year.
